Eula La Croix’s poetic works reflect her love of the natural world through an
intent to express the beauty and drama of nature.
Having grown up in Kentucky surrounded by the fields and woods of the nob and
bluegrass country, she has been greatly influenced by nature in all its moods.
From 1999 until 2007 she realized a long-held dream of living in the
Western North Carolina mountains and expressing the beauty of the area through
her painting. Although Thomas Wolfe said, “You can’t go home again”, she has
returned to her roots in Spartanburg, SC and is re-connecting to past
acquaintances and familiar scenes with a feeling of indeed being “home again. Whether working in oils or pastels, each piece of work is a challenge to delve more deeply within herself to express the emotional quality of a particular subject and transmit that feeling to the viewer. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, a juried member of the Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg, SC, and a founding and lifetime member of the Palette Club of Louisville, Ky. Her work is a part of many corporate and private collections and she has won many awards in juried exhibitions including being honored as a finalist in the Artist’s Magazine Landscape Competition.
